Workshop Description:

Discover the beauty of working with metal and create a pair of one-of-a-kind earrings with your own two hands!

Join us at 43 Artisan Co. for a creative Sunday afternoon exploring the art of metalsmithing as we transform simple sheets of copper and brass into beautiful, handcrafted earrings!

In this beginner-friendly workshop, local artist and metalsmith Alexis Rhoades will introduce you to the fundamentals of working with metal, guiding you through the process of creating your own wearable works of art using approachable, hands-on techniques.

We'll explore how different hammering techniques can transform the surface of metal, creating beautiful textures, patterns, and reflective finishes. You'll learn how to work with basic metalsmithing tools, shape and texture your designs, smooth and finish your pieces, and assemble them into a completed pair of earrings.

With a selection of shapes and design possibilities to explore, you'll have the freedom to create earrings that reflect your own personal style, whether you're drawn to something minimal and understated or bold and full of texture.

Along the way, you'll gain an appreciation for the craftsmanship behind handmade metal jewelry and discover just how satisfying it can be to transform a simple piece of material into something beautiful and uniquely yours.

No previous jewelry-making or metalsmithing experience is necessary! This workshop is designed to be approachable for complete beginners, with step-by-step guidance, all the tools and materials you'll need, and plenty of room for creative expression.

You'll leave with a beautiful pair of handcrafted copper or brass earrings, ready to wear or gift, along with a few new skills and the satisfaction of knowing you made them yourself!
