The Story Behind 43 Artisan Co.
What started as a simple creative outlet quickly grew into something far greater than I could have imagined.
In October 2022, I launched 43 Jewelry Co., a passion project focused on crafting hypoallergenic gemstone and beach glass jewelry. From the very beginning, I realized just how fulfilling it was to pursue my creative passions, and I eagerly poured my energy into expanding my skill set as an artist and building a tight-knit community around my brand.
As 43 gained momentum—expanding to local events, growing an online presence, entering retail stores, and forming incredible connections along the way—I knew in my heart that my creativity stretched far beyond jewelry alone. By the time the business hit its two-year mark, it was clear: 43 was meant to be more.
And so, 43 Artisan Co. was born. This rebrand allowed me to fully embrace all of my artistic passions, offering a collection of handmade pieces across jewelry design, pyrography, woodworking, pastel art, photography, and more.
Today, 43 Artisan Co. has built a thriving community of 1,500+ supporters, is featured in seven retail locations, and continues to reach new audiences through its online store and select pop-up events. What started as a small creative outlet pursued in the evenings after work has now grown into a brand dedicated to craftsmanship, connection, and creativity in every form.
Get to Know the Artist
Hey, I’m Alexis Longo, but you can just call me Lex. I’m an artist, marketer, soon-to-be podcast host, and entrepreneur based in Meadville, PA.
Growing up, I always found solace in creating. From an early age, I was naturally drawn to different forms and mediums of artistic expression, and I truly believe my purpose feels most clear when I’m immersed in the creative process.
In March of 2024, I left my full-time marketing agency position to fully devote myself to my independent work and passions. Now, my days are spent embracing creative development, prioritizing my joy, and being completely wrapped up in whatever project I'm tackling at the time.
Beyond art, I love spending time with my incredibly supportive, soon-to-be husband, Joey, and our adorable Goldendoodle, Luca, practicing yoga and pilates, enjoying nature, and supporting local small businesses, coffee shops, and food spots.
My Creative Process
The Meaning Behind 43
43 comes from April 3rd (4/3 or 4.3)—a date that holds deep significance in my life. It’s Joey and I's anniversary, and truly, a defining cornerstone in the trajectory of my life. Of course, we stuck with "43"—it just had a catchier ring to it! But its meaning runs far deeper than just a date.
At its core, 43 Artisan Co. is a team effort—a dream built on love, support, and the unwavering belief that we can create something meaningful together. I truly could not do what I do without Joey’s encouragement, and this number serves as a daily reminder of the strength, passion, and dedication that fuels everything I create.
But beyond just us, 43 represents something bigger—a mindset and a lifestyle:
- Feeling the fear and doing it anyway.
- Finding the strength to pursue your dreams against all odds.
- Never giving up on what’s right.
- And above all else—to love.
Love when it’s easy, love when it’s hard. Love what you do. Love the messy parts, the lessons, the setbacks. Love the people who stand beside you—and even the ones who don’t. Because in the end, it’s love that shapes us, strengthens us, and keeps us moving forward.
That’s what 43 means to me. And now, as this community continues to grow, each of you has become part of that story—a shared journey of passion, creativity, and resilience. Together, we build, we create, and we keep moving forward.
