Workshop Description:

Discover the art of drawing with fire and transform a simple piece of wood into something uniquely yours!

Join local pyrography artist Alexis Rhoades of 43 Artisan Co. for a creative evening exploring the beautiful and expressive art of woodburning, also known as pyrography, where heat becomes your drawing tool and natural wood becomes your canvas.

In this beginner-friendly workshop, Alexis will guide you through the fundamentals of woodburning as you learn to create beautiful, nature-inspired artwork using a heated woodburning tool. We'll explore how different tips, temperatures, and techniques can be used to create lines, patterns, shading, and texture, bringing your designs to life directly on the surface of the wood.

You'll learn the essentials of safely handling your tools, transferring designs onto wood, controlling your lines, and building depth through different burning techniques. With inspiration drawn from the natural world, you'll have the opportunity to explore botanical illustrations, woodland imagery, celestial elements, or other organic designs as you create a finished piece of artwork to take home.

Whether you're interested in trying a new artistic medium, expanding your creative skills, or simply enjoying a couple of hours making something with your hands, this workshop offers a wonderful opportunity to slow down, experiment, and discover the satisfaction of creating something beautiful from a simple, natural material.

No previous woodburning or drawing experience is necessary! We'll work through the process together, with plenty of guidance, creative encouragement, and room to make your project your own.

You'll leave with a handmade woodburned artwork, a new appreciation for this unique art form, and the foundational skills to continue exploring pyrography on your own.
